ALATEC supports development of strategic and tactical plans which ensure mission goals are translated into objective, results-oriented measures of performance and establish baselines for measuring the value of IT investments.  We support estimating the cost of modifications to IT systems; conduct technology assessments and draft recommendations to modernize infrastructure; conduct cost-benefit analyses and draft cost justifications for enhanced infrastructure support; analyze user and system requirements; develop IT architectures and architectural disciplines that improve systems performance, systems acquisition, and technology insertion; increase return on information technology investment; and guide systems migration. We use the DIACAP to maintain IT systems’ security and lack of vulnerability and provide for continuity of mission.  An important tenet of DIACP is information assurance and vulnerability management (IAVM).  Within this management context, Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA) and Gold Disk scans are two IAVM tools used to assess IT systems for vulnerabilities and provide processes for vulnerability remediation. ALATEC supports architecture planning and design to optimize IT capacity and resources.  We do this by examining historical usage of assets and estimating future use given expected business practice changes.  We seek to understand capability and capacity needs before those needs can affect system performance.  IT architecture plans will explain how the customers IT and other information elements work towards achieving and implementing its goals and objectives. The specific areas addressed by systems architecture are business processes, data sets and information applications and software and technology. Our analysts will help define how changes in technology and business processes can be implemented within the overarching business goals.
